We at Baker’s Cafe, are committed to helping our community. As a responsible business, we’re very much aware of our impact on the community and the environment and we try to give back to the community as much as we can. Through good waste management practices and responsible procurement we strive towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
1. Waste Management Practices:
Coffee Grounds –
We make available coffee grounds that are an excellent additive to soil at very nominal rates to local gardens.
Calcium Powder –
We cure egg shells and then grind them to make calcium powder that can be used as calcium additives.
General Waste –
We compost and use all our wet waste using proper techniques.
2. Procurement:
We procure all our fresh vegetables and meat from “Lal Bazaar” – one of Gangtok’s oldest bazaars. This ensures that the food is organic as it is sourced locally from Sikkim and our local farmers are supported.
We implore our suppliers to ensure responsible means of production while maintaining high standards of consistency and quality.
We invite more innovative and effective ideas from everyone at info@thebakerscafe.com.
